As the student enters into a college life there comes a vast change in his/her life with the increment of responsibilities a phase indicating him and wanting him to get mature.  In fact it would be right to say that this is the period of transition for both parents as well as students. When college student visit home on vacations, it’s a time of joy but sometimes also it can get converted into a stressful situation. Yes this can be quiet common as being a student they are getting accustomed to new freedoms, taking self decisions and handling new responsibilities but at the same time it can also generate new power struggles between parents and their kids.

So the one way to overcome this is to have a wise conversation between both the parties. Parents should disclose their expectation to their children in their home visit but at the same also should understand the changing phases of his life and trust his/her ability.

Timetable: parents should accept the changes in life as well as changes in their child’s routine habit after joining a college in comparison to their high school routine. They can at time be returning late to home but you can’t just impose curfew and the students to should try their best to understand their parents feeling and manage to return home at a decent hour.

Punishment: Now no longer the student is a kid that they can be punished or their expenses withheld to teach them lessons. What you need is proper communication among each other.

Privacy: The college life is a phase where too much involvement of parents can be considered as interference. In such a scenario parents have no other way but to let go and trust the kids to take a right decision by himself. And the students should also understand that their parents are their well wishers and are always have some priceless suggestion for you that should be respected.

Changing views: When a student enters a college, he/she is exposed to entirely new environment and deal with people having a set of separate views. These views can over take the existing views and change his opinion about certain religion or politics in ways that can be upsetting to their parents but this can be cleared by having certain conversations despite getting into conflict on the matter.
