St.
Xavier’s college Mumbai:
This college is named after a Jesuit saint St. Francis Xavier, of the 16th century who traveled to India.
The foundation of the college was laid down by a Society of Jesus which is the
Christian related group started by St.
Ignatius of Loyola. The Jesuits were greatly impressed and inspired by humanity
and have always taken efforts and strives for focusing on critical and creative
thinking.
St. Xavier’s college was affiliated to the University of Bombay on January 30, 1869 and it was
entrusted the responsibility of preparing students and impart education in
relation to Arts, Science and Commerce. Still the college is very well
controlled and handled by various executives of the Jesus society.
