Studying From Home
Whenever we consider the prospect
of studying from home, the things that
come to our mind is that there would be no strict deadlines to meet, no
‘moaning’ teachers and lots of ‘lie-ins’. But the fact is very much different
in reality.
Studying from home, same degree
or diploma can be achieved as in mainstream institutions only with the
exception of being able to learn at the student’s own home and preferred time
schedules. This method of learning is also referred to as ‘Distance Learning’
as it offers an alternative from taking lessons at a pre-set time and place as
in a School, College or University.
After registering for a chosen
course, the student is paired up with a tutor. Although it is not possible for
them to meet each other personally, they are definitely contactable via phone
or e-mails.
Studying from home is a lot more
advantageous as, though there are cut-off dates for exams or submission of assignments, the student can
study at their own leisure. The student does not miss out lectures in this case
while it is possible to miss out classes if education is imparted through traditional institutions. Distance
learning is also convenient in cases of shifting or if the student resides in a
remote corner as they always succeed to remain connected with their
‘web-tutor’.
There are also some disadvantages
associated with distance learning programs. The scope of exchange of ideas is
less in this case. The students need to motivate themselves and set goals to be
benefited. Though there are some disadvantages, the advantages weigh out and
the prospect of ‘Studying from Home’ can be definitely considered a great
opportunity.
